In the UK, a birth doula typically costs between around £800 and £2,500+ for a full package, depending on experience and location. A postnatal doula usually charges around £20–£35 per hour. London prices tend to sit at the higher end. Many doulas offer payment plans and reduced "access" spaces.

What's included in a birth package?
A birth doula fee usually isn't "per hour" — it reflects being on call around the clock for weeks and staying with you for the entire labour, however long it lasts. A typical package includes:
- Two prenatal home visits
- On-call availability from around 37 weeks
- Continuous in-person support throughout labour and birth
- A postnatal debrief visit
- Ongoing phone and text support throughout pregnancy
Is it worth the cost?
